Yesomi Umolu is an experienced arts leader, curator, and cultural strategist working at the intersection of art and architecture. Most recently, she served as Director of Curatorial Affairs and Public Practice at Serpentine, overseeing artistic programming and the curatorial team. She was also the Artistic Director of the 2019 Chicago Architecture Biennial — the largest architecture and design exhibition in North America.

Her curatorial experience includes roles at the University of Chicago, Walker Art Center, Manifesta, and Tate Modern. Umolu began her career working on master plans and education projects for leading architectural practices Grimshaw and Haworth Tompkins.

In addition to her leadership positions, she is a consultant to cultural foundations and philanthropic initiatives. She frequently shares her expertise on contemporary art, architecture and museum practices through international publications and conferences.

Umolu is Vice-Chair of the Horniman Museum and Gardens’ board and a member of the British Council’s Arts and Creative Economy Advisory Group. She was a trustee of the Graham Foundation in Chicago and a member of the curatorial advisory board for the US Pavilion at the 16th Venice Architecture Biennale.
